Dr Abutaleb and team

Dr Mohamed Khalid Abutaleb and his team are the winners of The Christie’s You Made a Difference Award for March 2025.

The following comments were made about Dr Abutaleb and the team in the March nominations. Judges picked the team out as very deserving winners and said that the comments made about them showed how they represent The Christie values and behaviours.

“Khalid is a sarcoma consultant and works closely with his clinical and admin colleagues in general clinical oncology and proton beam therapy. They all say that he is a lovely person to work with and a really supportive colleague.  He is always looking at ways to improve the way the team works and the way in which they collaborate with other departments especially with surgery who they work closely with.

"He is a family man and a father to 3 children. He is apparently a keen gardener and loves to tend to his lawn!”

  - Claire Reid, Deputy service manager

[Dr Abutaleb and the team] showed me the finest, meticulous care in every assessment following surgery. They also manifested a genuine and kindly care through every part of my treatment.

Alexander MacDougall, patient

"My husband and myself are 82 and 78. We have never been in any hospital as we are or have been blessed with great health. So, cancer at 81 was not what we expected. This whole team through their counselling took the fear out of this situation and directed us through a 'panic-free channel."

  - Catherine MacDougall, patient's relative
