Feedback on portal rollout
The Christie Clinical Portal (https://clinicalportal.christie.nhs.uk/) was
launched at the beginning of December and since then approximately
200 GPs from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire have requested
and been granted with access.
One of the main drivers for the creation of the portal was to
help improve communications between GPs and clinical teams treating
patients The Christie. As well as providing access to the patient's
up-to-date clinical record held at The Christie, the portal allows
GPs to contact the clinical team directly. This can be done using
the patient enquiry function within the portal which is accessible
by clicking on the button available in the patient details
section.
When this button is selected a small window opens pre-populated
with the individual patient's identifiers from the record being
viewed, along with a free text message box which can be completed
with non-urgent enquiries (see below):

Enquiries received in this way are triaged and directed to
individual clinicians or the appropriate clinical team caring for
the patient. The enquiry is considered and an email response
provided back within two working days. The use of this function
within the portal has so far been extremely well received and has
helped to cut down wasted time for GPs trying to reach the right
person at The Christie more efficiently than via telephone or
letter.
This type of functionality continues to evolve to help ensure
that the portal is as useful and convenient as possible. This is
often achieved through comments and feedback received by the
development team from individual portal users. This is done using
the Feedback Form link which is at the bottom of most screens
throughout the system. One recent request was to include
information within the portal relating to the care of the dying and
this is to be incorporated by the end of August.
If you and your colleagues
are not existing users of the portal and would like to obtain
access collectively please email: clinicalportal@christie.nhs.uk
. Additionally if you are a CCG lead or GP
Education lead and would like to arrange for The Christie to
demonstrate the system at appropriate meetings this can again be
organised using the Feedback Form
link or by contacting john.glover@christie.nhs.uk
