Complementary therapy service
Our award winning complementary therapy service
supports patients and carers through all stages of their cancer
journey. Diagnosis and subsequent treatment can bring on many
emotions and symptoms - including stress, depression, fear, worry,
and anxiety induced nausea.
As an integrated part of the rehabilitation unit we offer a
range of therapies, all free of charge, such as massage,
aromatherapy, acupuncture, reflexology, therapeutic touch,
hypnotherapy techniques and creative visualisation which all help
to alleviate these emotions and symptoms. Every year we treat more
and more patients, and their carers, as the value of what we do
becomes more widely known.
In addition to treating patients a key part of our work lies in
evaluating the many and diverse benefits of complementary therapies
through research. Sir Jimmy Savile has helped to fund one such
current research project.
The service is not funded by the NHS and, so far, we have been
self-funded by running training courses, fundraising events and
through donations.
