Training
Christie Medical Physics and Engineering (CMPE)
offers teaching and training for a wide range of healthcare
professionals and others through:
Professional training
CMPE is accredited by the IPEM to train Clinical Scientists
and Clinical Technologists.
Scientist Training Programme
The Scientist Training Programme (STP) was introduced during
2011 as part of
Modernising
Scientific
Careers (MSC). It has replaced the IPEM Clinical Scientist
training (CST) scheme. STP provides a three year training programme
of workplace learning integrated with a master's degree in medical
physics. The training posts offer broad based training across a
range of medical physics rotations in different departments before
specialisation in the last 18 months of training.

Successful trainees will be equipped to apply for NHS
posts as healthcare scientists and to join the appropriate
professional register. For further information on STP see the NHS
Careers website. Graduates requiring
information on STP training in the Manchester medical physics
consortium should email stp@physics.cr.man.ac.uk
