Non-ionising radiation
Non-ionising radiation specialists provide
scientific, technical, and training support to the majority of NHS
Trusts throughout the north west and some independent healthcare
establishments covering:
- Laser and ILS safety
- UV phototherapy and PDT support
- RF
Service
This covers the following areas of expertise:
- safety advice
- equipment performance and calibration testing
- hazard assessments
- assistance with establishing quality assurance programmes
Research and development
The group is active in research and development in a number of
non-ionising radiation topics and also provides support for
clinical research projects utilising non-ionising radiation.
Teaching and training
- Lecturing on Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses at
Manchester University
- Laser/ILS safety training
- The Radiation Protection section is an IPEM-accredited training
centre for Part 1 clinical scientists and technologists. Where
applicable, non-ionising radiation specialists provide training in
non-ionising radiation protection
Professional matters
- Staff actively participate in a range of professional matters
ranging from refereeing scientific papers to providing advice to
national and international bodies
Special features
- We are a recognised radiation protection advisor for
non-ionising radiations and can provide all levels of advice in
this field
- The group operates within BS EN ISO 9001:2000 quality
system
