Spiritual care
If you - or someone close to you - is ill, you may
find yourself thinking about some big questions - "Why is this
happening?" "What does it all mean?" You might challenge your
beliefs about yourself and the world . Your sense of identity and
your relationships with others may undergo deep changes.
These are some of the areas in which spiritual care might be of
some help. Our chaplaincy team is committed to seeing you through
these times. We will help where we can. But not by "selling" you a
religious viewpoint. Your existing beliefs are treated with total
respect.
Contacting us
Members of the team visit wards regularly - but you don't need
to wait. We are easily contacted. Just ask one of the staff to
contact us and we will be with you as soon as we can.
A Church of England, Free Church and Roman Catholic chaplain is
on call 24 hours a day so, in an emergency, we can be with you
whenever you need us, day or night.
We have links with other faith communities, including Christian
Orthodox, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, and Buddhist - and can get
in touch with them for you.
We encourage religious leaders to refer any member of their own
community, with their permission, who is coming into hospital and
who would like to talk to a chaplain.
What facilities do we offer?
The chapel, chaplaincy office and 'quiet room' are on the first
floor education centre corridor, near Ward 4.
The prayer room equipped for Muslim prayers (including washing

There are services of Christian worship in the chapel, lasting
about 25-30 minutes, to which all are welcome.
