Sale Sharks rugby player, Rob Miller, dropped by The Christie's young cancer unit to donate £500 he received as Aviva Player of the Month.

Young patients were delighted to meet Rob, 23, as he took a tour of the unit which cares for young people between the ages of 16 and 24 years old being treated with cancer.

Head of corporate and sporting events at The Christie charity, Jenny Haskey, said; "We're thrilled by the ongoing support from Sale Sharks who've gone above and beyond to help our cause.

"It was such a kind gesture for Rob to choose The Christie as his charity of choice and donate the £500 to us after winning the Aviva Player of the Month.

"Our young patients were so excited that he was coming along today and this money will go directly to them and their care."

Sale Sharks' Rob Miller said; "It's always so humbling to visit The Christie, especially the teenage and young people's unit. The courage you see here from all the patients is just amazing.

"Everyone knows someone who's had cancer, many of whom have been treated at The Christie. It's an honour to be able to do something like this and help such an important place."
