The Christie charity still has charity places available for the third British Gas Great Manchester Swim on 1st July. The dock-to-dock one mile swim in Salford Quays is a great way for supporters to make a splash and help raise funds for The Christie.

Patient, Stephanie Wood, was treated for breast cancer in 2008 and still has regular check ups at The Christie. Stephanie said:

"I've always enjoyed swimming so it felt natural for me to take to the water when I was recovering from breast cancer. I like the way it makes me feel, I feel alive. I take my health seriously and I look after myself well. When something like cancer comes into your life, you want to be able to feel as if you can still achieve your goals and that's what I've done by taking part in events for The Christie.

"I've done several open water swims for The Christie, I always feel in safe hands and the buzz of adrenalin definitely doesn't go away."

Swimmers of all abilities are welcome to register for the event by going to www.christies.org/swim or via www.greatswim.org where they should indicate they would like to swim for The Christie.
