Our next Spotlight event will focus on enhanced supportive care (ESC), a new initiative aimed at addressing the needs of cancer patients more fully, by preventing and managing the adverse physical and psychological effects of cancer and its treatment.
This is an exclusive chance to hear from Dr Richard Berman, consultant in supportive care at The Christie and NHS England’s national clinical lead for ESC. The Christie’s ESC team is supporting our patients through their cancer treatment by earlier involvement of supportive care and working much more closely with our oncology colleagues. This approach focuses on minimising the side effects of treatments and providing up to date pain and symptom management while also helping patients through chemotherapy treatments.
The Christie ESC programme supports patients with advanced cancer, those who are living with cancer as a long term illness and cancer survivors. Using a range of expertise that includes palliative care alongside pain medicine, interventional radiology, complementary therapy, psycho-oncology and spiritual care as well as physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy we can support our patients whatever their prognosis.
Spotlight events are a chance to celebrate the impact that you, our supporters, have on patients every day. They are free to attend and open to anyone who would like to hear more about our work.
The event will take place in the auditorium at the Education Centre (department 17), The Christie, Wilmslow Road, Manchester, M20 4BX. Registration will be available 30 minutes prior to the event.
