Legal Wording
Leaving a gift to The Christie is simple and
inexpensive. We strongly advise you seek professional advice as
home-made documents can be ambiguous and lead to your wishes not
being carried out properly.
When discussing your will with your solicitor it may be helpful
to take these details with you so they are clear as to the exact
wording required.
Refer to The Christie as:
The Christie Charitable Fund (The Christie NHS Foundation Trust,
Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester M20 4BX).
Charity Registration number 1049751
Residuary bequest wording
"I give to The Christie Charitable Fund (of The Christie NHS
Foundation Trust, Wilmslow Road, Manchester M20 4BX). Charity
Registration Number: 1049751 (___% of residue) for its general
purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other
duly authorized officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my
Executors."
Should The Christie merge with another body the following
allows for the bequest to stand:
"If before my death (or after my death but before my trustees
have given effect to the gift) any charitable or other body to
which a gift is made by this will or any codicil to it has changed
its name or amalgamated with any other body or transferred all its
assets to any other body then my trustees shall give effect to the
gift as if it were a gift to the body in its changed name or to the
body which results from the amalgamation or to the body to which
the assets have been transferred.".
To express a specific wish:
".....and I express the wish, but without creating any
legally-binding obligation, that the said charity use the said
bequest for (intended use)."
