Two stars of The Real Housewives of Cheshire are putting on their running shoes to raise funds for cancer patients in the North West.
Lauren Simon, 42, and Leanne Brown, 38, both regulars in the ITVBe reality series Real Housewives of Cheshire, will be taking part in the Morrison's Great Manchester Run as part of Team Christie.
It has been confirmed that The Real Housewives of Cheshire TV show will return for a second series on ITVBe.
Lauren and Leanne will be running alongside our 1,500 Team Christie fundraisers in Europe's biggest 10K running event that has seen more than a quarter of a million enthusiastic runners take to the streets of Manchester since the run was established in 2003.
Lauren and Leanne are taking the run very seriously as both ladies have personal trainers who are putting them through their paces.
Lauren said: "My Dad was treated for cancer at The Christie, it was a terrifying time but thanks to the care and treatment he received at this wonderful hospital he has been cancer free for 11 years. I'm thrilled to be able to give something back and run for The Christie."
Leanne said: "Cancer is something that affects everyone. My husband's uncle is undergoing treatment at The Christie at the moment. The hospital is amazing and the staff are so focused on the emotional side of cancer, they are constantly positive and always look for things that can make life a little easier for patients. By running for The Christie I want to raise awareness of the issues and help other patients and their families by giving to this amazing charity."
Both ladies will have plenty of support on 10th May. Leanne will be cheered on by her professional footballer player husband, Wes Brown, a former Manchester United player who now plays for Sunderland, along with her three children.
Lauren will be supported by her businessman husband, Paul Simon, along with her two daughters.
And the other Housewives of Cheshire will be offering their support too, Tanya Bardsley and Dawn Ward will be cheering Lauren and Leanne over the finish line from The Christie charity enclosure.
Cherry Steele, sporting events officer at The Christie charity said: "We're thrilled Lauren and Leanne have chosen to run for The Christie and support our charity. The ladies will join the 1,500 people of all different ages and abilities already running for us. There is still time to join Team Christie and sign up to take part, simply visit www.greatrun.org to register. We would encourage everyone to get involved on what will be a wonderful day that raises a huge amount for cancer patients across the North West."
The Christie charity supports the work of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust through its fundraising activities, and delivers projects, equipment and improvements that are over and above what the NHS funds. The charity has over 30,000 supporters who raised a record breaking £14.8m last year.
