Rectal Cancer

When colon cancer affects the rectum (the last 15cm of large bowel leading to the back passage), it is called rectal cancer.

About 1 in 3 cancers of the large bowel occur in this region. This type of cancer may be treated in a number of ways including surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. An advantage of having rectal cancer treatment in a units such as The Christie Colorectal and Peritoneal Oncology Centre, is that we,have a lot of experience in all these techniques.
