Breast Cancer Research Team
We participate in a number of national and
international clinical trials, with a particular focus on
metastatic breast cancer. We also participate in adjuvant and
neo-adjuvant studies; trials looking at numerous different cancer
treatments, ie hormone therapies, chemotherapy, and trials for
differing Her 2 status and hormone receptor status. We mainly
partake in phase 2-4 studies.
Most of our clinical trials are commercially sponsored. However,
most of our trial activity comes from National Cancer Research
Network (NCRN) studies.
The number and type of trials open to recruitment can change
over time and each clinical trial has specific criteria for entry.
However, we normally have approximately 15 active clinical trials,
with many more in follow-up and set up.
We are a very large team with two consultant medical
oncologists, six consultant clinical oncologists, five research
nurses, three data managers and two Clinical Trials Administrators.
We also have a number of Research Registrars working with us at any
given time, and have close links with the Christie's Breast Care
Nurses.
