The department of Clinical Oncology has been welcoming overseas trainees for many years. Some trainees are sponsored by their parent country, whereas for others The Christie is able to apply for Medical Training Initiative sponsorship for visa and GMC registration for suitable candidates. The Christie has many years of experience in preparing senior trainees for the FRCR clinical oncology examination, many of whom are from South East Asian countries.
Our track record is excellent with 100% pass rate, and one of our international trainees from Malaysia was awarded the much coveted Gold Award (Rohan Williams Medal) for FRCR part 2.
As part of the School of Oncology initiative, we are welcoming international senior trainees for a 12 month scholarship, where they can gain experience in advance radiotherapy techniques.
