We have 4 governors elected by the staff
constituency:
OpenPaul FulfordGovernor - Registered Medical Staff
Elected by the staff constituency
Consultant surgeon Paul Fulford is the new staff governor for
registered medical practitioners. He has worked at The Christie for
seven years and is strongly committed to the organisation. As chair
of the medical staff committee, he is actively involved in many
issues that affect the hospital and staff, which he said will add
value to his role as staff governor.
OpenPam MorrisonGovernor - Registered Nurses
Elected by the staff constituency
Pam has worked at the Christie for 25 years and is our
Divisional Lead Nurse for Cancer Centre Services. Her
extensive clinical experience has been in acute and
oncology environments which is invaluable for her current
leadership management role.
Attending various meetings and workshops enables Pam to
represent the views of the nursing staff at the council of
governors. She has been the deputy chair of the patient
experience and involvement committee until early 2010 where she was
able to use her extensive experience to enhance the issues
being discussed. She is currently a member of the
nominations committee.
Pam is always available to discuss issues that relate to
the council.
OpenNeil WrathallGovernor - Non Clinical Staff
Elected by the staff constituency
Neil Wrathall works as quality and governance manager in
the clinical support services division.
Neil feels it is important that non-clinical staff at The
Christie have a voice during this period of transition in the NHS.
He believes the role of Governor is an important one enabling a
more active role in supporting the Trust with the potential to
increase staff understanding and have input into the Trust's
decision making process.
OpenThelma GowenlockGovernor - Volunteers
Elected by the staff constituency
Thelma has been a volunteer at The Christie since 2005 and
during this period her role has developed and expanded. She
currently provide information and help to patients through Patient
Advice & Liaison Service, is the first point of contact for the
relatives of patients on the Critical Care Unit (CCU) and shares
her experiences by presenting "a day in the life of a Christie
volunteer" as part of volunteers' induction.
She has also gathered and presented patients' views on their
experience of CCU to support the Unit's bid to gain Practice
Development accreditation.
Thelma believes her "hands-on" experience helping patients and
relatives is invaluable and wants to use this experience to enable
her to be an effective governor and representative for all the
volunteers.
