Who would benefit from proton beam therapy?

Facilities around the world have been treating patients with proton beam therapy for some time. Technology is continually advancing, with improved accuracy of treatment and methods of treatment delivery.

Proton beam rather than X-ray therapy is better for treating certain tumour types. The following list is not exhaustive or applicable in all cases, but includes examples of where proton beam therapy could offer real benefits to patients.
