The Christie welcomes more expertise
Press Release Posted 02 May 2012
Specialist cancer centre, The Christie, has
welcomed two highly regarded business minds as non-executive
directors to the Trust's board.
Barrie Bernstein, who is well known for Bolton based
kitchen manufacturers, Bernstein Group PLC, joins with Pat Loftus,
who is currently North West Practice Senior Partner at
Deloitte.
Barrie Bernstein, who has fundraised for The Christie charity
since 1993, comments on becoming a non-executive director:
"The Christie has always been a cause I truly believe in, and I
have since lost my wife Frances to cancer and been through
chemotherapy myself, bringing it even closer to my heart. The
Christie is a world-class organisation with a wonderful charity and
I'm honoured to have been accepted onto the board."
Pat Loftus of Deloitte, adds:
"The Christie is not only an exceptional Trust boasting
specialist experts and world firsts, it is also a charity with many
loyal supporters. To have such a prestigious centre on
our doorstep in Manchester is something the local community should
both be proud of and actively support."
Lord Keith Bradley, chairman of The Christie, said:
"As two well-respected individuals in the region, we are
delighted to have their expertise on our board. With our
planning for our 20:20 Vision progressing and the recent go ahead
on our Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) centre, as well as many other
developments, this is a key time to be joining us. We are
continuing to deliver excellent services in treatment, research and
education and are looking forward to this additional support in the
new financial year."
