Industrial Strike Action - Appointments on Wednesday 30 November 2011
Press Release Posted 29 November 2011
A number of trade unions have voted in favour of taking
industrial action on 30 November 2011. This relates to the
Government's proposed changes to public sector pensions, and
affects all public services, including the NHS.
In discussion with trade unions and our staff we have put robust
plans in place to ensure that patients who require treatment will
be seen.
We are endeavoring to contact all of the patients who are
scheduled to attend the Trust on 30 November to explain the
situation, and to reassure them that they should come in as
planned.
North West Ambulance Service anticipates that oncology patients
will be transported for treatment as normal.
While our main priority is to ensure the continuity of patient
care, there may be some impact on waiting times on the day. We will
make sure that patients are kept informed if waiting times are
longer than usual.
In addition, we are anticipating a reduced canteen service at
the main Christie site in Withington, although drink and snack
machines will be available.
