Tom Buckley to be honoured at awards ceremony

Christie patient Tom Buckley is to be given a special award at The Christie's annual awards ceremony tomorrow (Friday December 19th).

Tom completed a grueling 180 mile walk to raise more than £50,000 for The Christie's charity on Tuesday, trekking through wind rain and snow, despite suffering from an inoperable brain tumour as well as having had part of his lung removed, leg muscles removed and a knee and leg bone replacement.

The awards will be presented by BBC Radio Four presenter Jenni Murray, who has also been treated at The Christie for breast cancer. Long serving Christie staff will be honoured alongside those who have been singled out for special achievements over the last 12 months.

You or your representatives are invited to the ceremony on Friday 19th December, 4pm. Christie Education Centre auditorium (2nd floor above the Wilmslow Dining Room). The ceremony will run from 4 - 5pm and entry will not be possible once it has started.

Following the ceremony, there will be interview and photograph opportunities with Tom Buckley, Jenni Murray and staff.
