March 2012 Employee of the Month is:- Stuart Davidson, ICT
Support Manager
Stuart has worked for the trust for over 10 years,
working his way up from ICT Helpdesk, to ICT Engineer, to ICT
Systems Engineer and more recently ICT Support Manager.
Stuart has often been relied upon as the single point of contact
due to his specialist knowledge of our systems. He has dedicated a
lot of time and effort behind the scenes over the last 10 years,
also providing on call cover, in order to ensure that hospital
informatics services remain functional, ensuring services are
maintained for our patients.
The following comments were made about Stuart in the
nominations. Judges picked out Stuart from nearly 50
nominations.
- Stuart worked above and beyond expectations to get us through a
very difficult software upgrade. We had particular problems at the
satellite in Salford and Stu found solutions to the issues, worked
long hours and liaised fantastically with the software
manufacturers and the radiographers. We rely heavily on Stu in
these situations and he always supports us to the highest levels -
he is truly our knight in shining armour!
- Been extremely supportive with the charity IT upgrade. Stuart
was always available
- Whenever I called and dealt with any issues quickly and with
humour! He made what could have been a very stressful few
weeks easy for us. Thank you Stuart
- All the hard work and IT support he provided during the Mosaiq
upgrade

The winner for January 2012:
Deborah Elliot, Head and Neck/Thyroid Specialist
Nurse
Deborah is a head and neck/thyroid specialist
nurse, supporting patients on both the wards and in the outpatient
department. Working alongside the consultants, she keeps in
regular contact with her patients offering further support and
advice at home. Debbie is a consistent support to the nursing
staff on the wards and is always available to offer them
guidance.
This comment was made about Deborah in the nominations, by a
member of staff. Judges picked this comment out from over
thirty nominations.
- Debbie has worked really hard to develop an electronic data
collection tool for use by the entire Nurse Specialist team. This
will help the team to identify our working patterns, and will lead
to service development and improving patient care. She's also been
able to do this at no added cost to the Trust.
December 2011 winnerOpen
The winner for December 2011:
Helen Mitchell, Nurse Clinician
Helen is nurse clinician within the
medical oncology breast team. She also manages the breast clinical
nurse specialist team.
This comment was made about Helen in the
nominations, by a member of staff. Judges picked this comment
out from over thirty nominations.
- Helen is both an excellent nurse and manager. She manages the
breast care
nurses and is extremely supportive.
- Helen has been managing the herceptin service as the sole nurse
clinician over the last few months single handedly and always
manages to offer an excellent service both in terms of its quality
and efficiency.
- Helen is most definitely a worthy candidate for employee of the
month.
November 2011 winnerOpen
The winner of the November 2011 Employee of
the Month was:-
Hilary Oldham lead clinical technician;
Hilary is the lead clinical technician; her role is assisting
the pharmacists on the wards with clinical duties and leading the
clinical technician team. She is heavily involved in providing
clinical pharmacy services to patients on the wards which includes
medication history taking ensuring patients have adequate supply of
medication both as an in patients and when discharged from the
hospital. She is involved in patient medication counseling.

The winner of the October 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
Elaine Blowers, research nurse team
leader
Elaine works as the research nurse team leader, she manages
teams of research nurses and has a special interest in breast
cancer.
Elaine is said to be professional, fair, wonderful with
patients, a wonderful of manger of staff and is a true reflection
of what is a professional nurse.

The winner of the September 2011 Employee of the Month
was:-
Ann Buchan, Inpatient Chemotherapy
Co-ordinator
Ann works as Inpatient Chemotherapy Coordinator in the patient
treatment centre.
Ann has been nominated by members of the public/patients and
colleagues for her hard work and has been selected by our judges
following so many positive comments.

The winner of the August 2011 Employee of the Month
was:
Nelia Collins, Domestic Assistance, Support
Services
Nelia works as a Domestic Assistant on the YOU.
Nelia has been nominated by members of the public/patients for
her efforts and has been selected by our judges for working in line
with one of our Christie values 'Clean, tidy and safe
environment'.
Not only does Nelia clean the YOU to a high standard she has
been complimented on her disposition how personable she is with
patients.
July 2011 winnerOpen
The winner of the July 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
Linda Davies, Ward Administrator
Linda works as a Ward Administrator. She is managed by the
Health Records Team but is based on ward 11. She meets and
greets the patients and ensures that they have all the appointments
for treatment and clinics. Linda also arranges transport for
patients, handles a lot of telephone queries and undertakes all
filing of medical notes.
June 2011 winnerOpen
The winner of the June Employee of the Month was:-
Charlotte Finchett, Linac Support Worker
Charlotte works as a Linac support worker. Her role is to work
on the Linac reception and she deals with most of the clerical work
for the Linacs that she is working for. She meets and greets
the patients and ensures that they have all the appointments for
treatment and clinics. She will also ensure that the patients have
the correct information and support by liaising with the
radiographers.

The winner of the May 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
David Pickersgill, Ward 4 manager
David is always professional, well presented and considers no
duty too small to ensure patients receive high quality care in a
safe environment, and has continually supported his staff through
education, encouragement and compassion.
April 2011 winnerOpen
The winner of the April 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
Katy Burns, Senior Clinical Trials
Administrator
Katy is based on the research annex and works closely with the
lung and melanoma team. Katy is very hard working, enthusiastic,
professional and a pleasure to work with. She maintains a high
level of work for all our trials and has coped so well due to poor
staffing levels on the team. She has single handed maintained
the data collection responsibilities of the Lung and Melanoma team
running smoothly during extreme staff shortages.

The winner of the March 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
Anita Igoe, Health Care Assistant
Anita is based mainly on ward 4 and also works for a few
evenings on the chemo suite. She is excellent with patients and has
a helpful and cheery disposition. She also brings in sweets for her
colleagues!

Eamonn Pyke, Health Care Assistant
Eamonn got two very touching nominations. Although one is
from a colleague and the other from a patient, they both say the
same thing but from a different angle; that Eamonn is a good and
caring person. This is the essence of what makes staff at The
Christie so special

The winner of the January 2011 Employee of the Month was:-
Liz Alflatt, Senior Learning Administrator
Liz has been very involved in the move of the L&D department
and the Maguire Unit and you can see from the comments made about
her just how much her hard work and willing attitude were
appreciated by her colleagues. Everyone comments on what a
fantastic job she's done and how organised she has been.

The winner for February 2012:
Carol McDonald
Carol McDonald is a senior Radiographer in the
Radiotherapy department. She joined the Christie August 2009
after completing her undergraduate degree at Cardiff University.
As a student Carol won the Society of Radiographers national
award for student of the year (2009).
