Employee of the month - Terms and conditions
Nominations
- Nomination may be from staff, patients, carers, volunteers, the
public and partner organisations
- All employees and volunteers of The Christie NHS Foundation
Trust will be eligible for the scheme
- The nomination period would be the first day of the month until
the last day of the calendar month
Nominations can be made online or via nomination
postcards/postboxes which will be situated at the main reception
areas, on wards and in the dining room.
The nomination will ask for no more than 200 words to explain
how the individual has excelled in their work and demonstrated
commitment to The Christie values.
At the end of each month the nomination forms will be collected
by the marketing team who will collate all of the entries. The
marketing team will provide a summary of eligible nominations to
the panel who will be asked to vote and award the individual who it
is felt is most deserving.
Any employee who is undergoing any disciplinary action or is on
a final stage of the managing attendance policy will not be
eligible to receive an award.
Once an individual has won an award they will not be eligible
again for another 12 months.
The Panel
The panel will consist of the Associate Director of Human
Resources or designated deputy in their absence, Brian McGee the
staff governor or nominated deputy in their absence, the Non
Executive Director, Equality & Diversity lead or designated
deputy in their absence.
Due to diary pressures the panel may on occasions be conducted
via teleconferencing facilities. Nominations will be sent to each
panelist who will then each shortlist three possible winners. The
shortlist will then be considered and the Employee of the Month
agreed.
NB If it is a tied vote the final decision will be
made by the non Executive Director, the chair of the
panel.
The criteria that the panel will be using to consider the
nominations will be as follows:
- Examples of an activity that has led to the nomination e.g.
demonstration of outstanding work on a particular project or in the
day to day role
- Demonstrated the Trusts values
- Responsible attitude towards work for example use of
initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm
- Provided a significant and positive impact on the Trust or
community. Such accomplishments must be identified.
- Produced results in the form of increased care quality,
productivity, increased revenues, reduced costs and/or improved
processes/operations.
- Special rapport with other employees and/or patients
Making the award
The successful employee with the most votes will be presented
with a £50 voucher and certificate by the Chief Executive and a
photograph taken for the Trust website and Chinwag magazine. The
employee's manager will be told in advance about the award, so that
a surprise presentation can be made to the member of staff.
The winner will be announced at the subsequent team brief and in
the Chief Executive's podcast.
Employee of the year
At the end of each year running from November to October the
panel will consider the twelve Employees of the Month and decide
upon/propose an Employee of the Year. The winner of the Employee of
the Year would be announced at the staff awards.
