Employment and Skills
The Christie has engaged with the Government's
Future Jobs initiative whereby opportunities are created for young
people who have been unemployed for more than 6 months to provide
them with the opportunity of a 6 month placement to enhance their
job skills and to provide them with development opportunites whilst
with The Christie, with a view to enhancing their marketability and
value within the workplace.
The Christie has been inspected by the job centre agency and has
received a certificate declaring our 'two ticks symbol' which is
evidence that we support people with disabilities.
The Christie has signed up to the local employment partnership
with our local job centre and work closely with them. Some of the
initiatives we have undertaken in partnership with the job centre
include:
- Teams from The Christie attend local job centres to deliver
presentations and provide helpful advice about working for The
Christie.
- The Christie shares all vacancies that have been advertised on
public websites and journals with local job centres to provide the
local community with greater access to opportunities.
The Christie runs a programme of study days, courses and guest
lectures on a wide variety of medical and cancer related subjects,
delivered by some of the world's leading experts on these subjects
and based in our purpose-built Education Centre.
Our study days, courses and conferences are attended by health
professionals regionally, nationally and internationally who are
looking for general information about cancer and cancer care or
more specialist expertise.
